Updated: Jan 31

If your inner German/Bavarian is yearning to come out, be sure to visit Hilton Head Island's 1st Annual Oktoberfest tomorrow, October 14th at Shelter Cove Harbour and Marina. Festivities run from 12:00 - 5:00pm. But this is Hilton Head after all, so they never really end.

Some of the highlights will include:

  • Samuel Adams beer trailers

  • 20 additional breweries

  • Authentic German cuisine

  • Live Music by White Liquor, Cameron Tate, and more

  • Costume contest and prizes!

Visit: https://events.humanitix.com/hilton-head-island-octoberfest for tickets and additional details.

While this is Hilton Head's 1st Annual Oktoberfest, the South is no stranger to the celebration. In fact, one of the largest and most attended Oktoberfests is located just outside of Atlanta, in Helen Georgia. https://helenga.org/ It's an easy five hour drive or 45 minute flight from Hilton Head Island/Bluffton. Helen was settled by a large Bavarian/German population and originally acted as a logging town. Upon the decline in the industry the city resurrected itself by becoming a replica of a Bavarian Alpine town, in the Appalachians instead of the Alps. This design is mandated through zoning first adopted in 1969, so that the classic southern German style is present on every building, even on the small number of national franchisees present.

So from my wife Amy and I to you... Prost!!!
